Being prepared means having food and water ready to go in your home to last for several days, as well as a disaster supplies kit.

Below are a list of items to consider adding to a cool, dry place in your home, office, or car.

Basic disaster supplies kit

• Water – one gallon per person per day for several days to use for drinking and sanitation

• Food – Three-day supply of non-perishable food

• Battery powered radio

• NOAA Weather Radio with tone alert

• Flashlight

• First aid kit

• Batteries

• Whistle

• Dust mask to help filter contaminated air

• Plastic sheeting and duct tape

• Moist towelettes, garbage bags, and plastic ties (for sanitation)

• Wrench or pliers

• Manual can opener

• Local maps
